Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Core Competencies are basic skills and knowledge all Ontario health care workers need to understand about IPAC.

The IPAC Core Competencies Course will help learners improve their knowledge about infection prevention and control. Learners will be able to apply their learning and skills to their workplace setting.

The goal is to decrease the risk of transmission of infection in health care.

(the required modules for our sector, titled ‘’IPAC for NON -CLINICAL Staff’’, are available free on the Public Health website)

1. Create a Public Health Ontario (PHO) online account 

2. Search “IPAC”

3. Scroll down until you see the 7 free online modules

4. Click the photo of the module you would like to complete. All 7 must be completed.

5. Scroll down to the green “Register”

6. It will ask to confirm your registration m, select “Ok”

7. This will enroll you in the class

8. Select the leaf 🍃 in the left hand column

9. This shows all of your registered courses

10. You can take the course on your own schedule 

11. Once completed, there is a test at the end that requires a 100% to receive a downloadable certificate 

(User must create a Public Health Ontario (PHO) account for access to this free online training. If you would like to print the certificate there will be a $1 charge. Once you pay it, you should download the certificate & email it to our [email protected] you can pick it up at our office the next business day)
